Having read the four books in sequence, and thoroughly enjoyed the story from start to finish. Technical accuracy of the times, tactics and equipment, and until I read the final summation at the end of book 4, I had not realised the connection to the tales of King Arthur. Extremely clever and well done. A great read from book 1 to a final conclusion in book 4.

Like a steam engine of olde this series just kept picking up steam until it was going 100 MPH. An example of great writing and a well thought out plot. I don't do spoilers you must read it yourself, but the ending is surprising. Anything that I read after this is going to be depressing.

There are folks who can write a story and you will most likely enjoy reading it, and then there are folks who can paint with words, this writer is one of those. He takes you to the time and place, makes you feel the emotions, the sounds, the horror, the grit, dirt, fear, weather and yes, the excitement of war. His research is spot on, his characters the same. He makes you care for them and understand both sides of the war to some extent. A great read, highly recommended.
